PH control

IN ORDER TO ACIEVE GOOD WATER QUALITY FOLLOW THESE SIMPLE STEPS;

  • Maintain Chlorine Level to kill germs and algae. The HOCl level should not fall below 1.00 milligram per llitre.
  • Once a fortnight Shock Dose the pool bringing the free chlorine level up to between 6 and 10 milligrams per litre to break down chloramines and organic pollution.
  • Check the PH level. Somewhere between 7.2 and 7.6 is required to achieve adequate disinfection from the chlorine

 REGULAR MAINTENANCE PROGRAMME

The Filter traps suspended particles and prevents them from returning to the pool water. Backwash at least once a fortnight (follow manufacturers instructions) to reverse the flow and get rid of the accumulated dirt. At the same time check that the flow through the pump strainer is not blocked by rubbish. The sand within the filter will need to be replaced every 7 to 10 years.

The longer the filter pump is working the better it cleans the water and the filter should be in use when bathers are in the pool and otherwise 4 hours out of 12.

    Empty the Skimmer weekly to ensure a good water flow through the system.

    A Pool Vacuum should be used weekly to remove non floating debris accumulated on the bottom. Some water clarifiers will form solids which drop to the bottom and can then be vacuumed up. Submerse the vacuum hose, filling it with water and excluding air before connecting it to the attachment in the skimmer.

    Regular Brushing will ensure that algae will not build up on the sides and the bottom of your pool and pay special attention to areas around steps, lights etc where water movement is minimal.

    Clean off dirt from the water line if it appears as this could be a breeding ground for algae, using a chlorine based cleaner.
